Spin bikes

Spin bikes for studio-style training at home

A spin bike brings the studio home. A weighted flywheel gives a smooth, stable ride, and the resistance dials in fast for climbs and intervals. It is genuinely hard work: a study of an indoor cycling class recorded riders averaging 80.6% of their heart-rate reserve, which counts as high intensity[1]. That is the appeal, a proper cardiovascular workout inside 45 minutes.

Who is a spin bike best for?

Spin bikes suit riders who want to work hard. The seat and handlebars micro-adjust for a proper fit, caged pedals hold your feet, and the heavy flywheel keeps the pedal stroke smooth when you push. If you want gentle, seated cardio instead, an upright or recumbent bike is the better fit.

How hard is a spin session?

Harder than most home cardio. In the same study, riders held a mean heart rate of 152 beats per minute, peaking around 177[1], and stayed at hard intensity from the 10 minute mark to the end of the 45 minute class[1]. Two or three rides like that a week go a long way.

Spin bike questions

What is a spin bike?
A spin bike is a studio-style indoor cycle with a weighted flywheel. It gives a smooth, road-like feel and suits interval training and classes.
What is the difference between a spin bike and an upright bike?
A spin bike has a heavier flywheel and a forward, more athletic riding position for harder training. An upright bike sits you more upright for steady, gentler cardio.
Can I follow online classes on a spin bike?
Yes. Our spin bike has a phone and tablet mount, so you can put a class or your stats at eye level while you ride.
