About this bike
The DeskFit Mini is an under desk exercise bike: a set of pedals you put on the floor and use while you work, read or watch television. It exists because of one number. The UK Chief Medical Officers report that sitting for 6 to 8 hours a day, and 3 to 4 hours of television, is linked to a higher risk of early death[1]. Breaking that sitting up with gentle movement is exactly what this is for.
You cannot always fix that with a gym session, because the sitting is the job. What you can do is move while you sit. The DeskFit Mini pedals quietly under a desk, has an adjustable resistance knob, and shows time, pedal count and calories on a small display.
It also works on a table for your arms, which makes it an arm and leg exercise bike rather than a leg-only pedal unit. It costs £59.99 including VAT.

Who the DeskFit Mini suits
This suits desk workers who sit for most of the day, older adults who want gentle movement, and anyone rebuilding strength after illness or surgery who is not ready for a full bike. It also suits people who know, honestly, that they will never get on a large exercise bike in the corner of the room. Too much sitting is a worldwide problem, not just a British one: the World Health Organization reports that 31% of adults, 1.8 billion people, do not do enough physical activity[4].
Be clear about what it is. This is a movement tool, not a cardio machine. It will not replace a proper bike, and it will not give you a hard workout.
- Good for: breaking up long periods of sitting at a desk
- Good for: gentle movement for older adults and for rehabilitation
- Good for: arms as well as legs, by putting it on a table
- Look elsewhere if: you want real cardio or high resistance, where the CityRide U2 or Studio Pro S3 fit
- Look elsewhere if: you want to track speed, distance or heart rate properly
How to choose an under desk bike, and why this one
Three things decide whether a desk bike gets used or ends up in a cupboard.
Height, first. If the pedals sit too high your knees hit the underside of the desk. A UK office desk is usually around 73 cm tall, so measure the gap between your desk and your seat before you buy anything. The DeskFit Mini is a low unit built to fit under a standard desk.
Grip, second. The most common complaint about cheap pedal exercisers is that they slide away across a hard floor. Use it on carpet, on a mat, or with the frame pushed against a wall or the desk pedestal.
Noise, third. If you take calls at your desk, the machine has to be quiet. This one uses an adjustable resistance knob rather than a loud friction brake, and it is quiet enough for a call or for the television.
Delivery and assembly
Free UK delivery, shipped to your door. This is the one product in our range that needs almost nothing doing to it: it arrives largely assembled, and the pedals screw on with the supplied tool.
There is almost nothing to build. Take it out of the box, attach the pedals, set the resistance knob, and go.

Care, storage and folding
Folded, the DeskFit Mini measures 50 x 35 x 23 cm. It slides under a bed, into a drawer, or behind a sofa, and it is light enough to carry with one hand.
Keep the pedal straps clean, and check the pedal bolts every few weeks, because they are the part that works loose on a unit this size.
If it slips on your floor, put a rubber mat under it. That single fix solves the most common frustration with this type of machine.
How the DeskFit Mini compares
Against a full exercise bike, the DeskFit Mini asks far less of you: less money, less space, less commitment. It gives less back, too. Do not expect it to build serious fitness on its own.
What it does do is fill the gap the guidelines actually care about. The same Chief Medical Officers' report finds that each extra hour a day spent sedentary carries around a 5% higher risk of a cardiovascular event[1]. Pedalling gently under a desk breaks that sitting up.
It adds up in ordinary terms, too. The report notes that for healthy older adults, 30 minutes of daily activity is roughly equivalent to 7,000 to 10,000 steps[1]. Pair this with a real bike or a walk and you get there faster. Used alone, it is a good habit, not a training plan.
